The Other Brands

The Camillus Cutlery Company was one of the oldest knife manufacturers in the United States with roots dating back to 1876. The company manufactured Camillus branded knives and was a prolific contractor for other knife brands up until its last days in 2007 when the company filed for bankruptcy.

Picked up this Fairmount, normally I don't buy celluloid knives but this one was in such good shape and the celluloid so pretty I went ahead. From what I understand Fairmount was a Camillus brand before WW2.

Thanks TJ! It is a very nice knife for its age. I like it a lot!

I might as well post the other one here too... A Craftsman 9548 Sta-Sharp Camp knife.

Heck yeh!!! That's a Grrrrr8 one too. What time frame would you put on the camp knife? It looks old but the "Craftsman" etch looks pretty modern.

TJ, I am told from a knowledgeable collector, that it is 1920's, to mid 1930's.

WOW! I just came across this list of makers and I think it comprises about half of the knives I own. Never realized they were associated with so many companies. I think I'll do a post of one knife from each of them.May take awhile though.

Ray I think the shorter list would be who did Camillus not make knives for! ::woot::

I am fairly sure all of these are from Camillus as well:
