Show Us Your Camillus Knives!

The Camillus Cutlery Company was one of the oldest knife manufacturers in the United States with roots dating back to 1876. The company manufactured Camillus branded knives and was a prolific contractor for other knife brands up until its last days in 2007 when the company filed for bankruptcy.

Would say Schrade also . Here’s a pic of a few Schrades a Craftsman 9470 a Sears95384 and aSW 880 and they all are Schrades with the same frame as the one you have posted. Smitty and others know more than I about these newer ones so they should say for sure . Nice knife ::tu:: ::tu::great condition and nice etch ,would put that one in the save pile . ::nod::

No expert but it’s nice to discuss knifes anytime with you and others here ::handshake:: There’s many here who’ve got so much to offer and it all helps with the heavy lifting as you say
Here’s a pic of 2 Camillus and 2 Schrade. The top 2 are Camillus . It’s not easy to always tell . We might even be wrong about your knife in Question coming from Schrade but we are enjoying learning and stumbling thru together . Catch you later ::handshake::

Good looking knife TopDog. ::tu:: JP already answered your question, but I'll add, with the exception of a couple of patterns, buy the time the Craftsman knives had gone to the 5 digit pattern number, especially during the ACA Edge series, most of their knives were being made by Schrade.

Thanks Smitty ::handshake:: Just picking it up it had a "Schrade" feel to it. The main thing I like about it the blades are hardly used... lot's of use/EDC work left in it. Looking at some of my other older Schrades & Camillus EDC knives ::paranoid:: I am seeing some pretty worn down blades... ::teary_eyes::

It's a Jet Pilot Survival Knife. I have about 10 of them. I have some made by Camillus some by Ontario. All the ones that I have seen have a date on one of the flats of the pommel or on the guard.
They were also made by Utica and Milpar. They go back to the Vietnam War Era. I don't have any idea how to tell the date of one from your pictures.
On some of the Camillus the stamp was kind of light. I would look very close on the pommel flats.

I picked up this Camillus Yachtsman or Sailors knife (which did Camillus call it?) at the local flea market for $5 as is. As you can see, it needs some work with the master blade being tipped and something really hot has come in contact with the handle material on the pile side. Both the blade and the marlin spike snap like bear traps and it is otherwise in good shape.

Blade will lose about 3/16" to reprofile

Hi Fellow Camillus Fans,

I recieved a cool little single blade Camillus knife from 1967redrider in a Christmas Bomb package this year. A really cool little knife that will go into my pocket. :D And I'll make a lanyard for it too. ::nod::
Thanks again John! ::handshake:: :D

Anyways, it has a cool blade form, good snap, solid half stop, threaded bolster & a bail. I really like half stops & bails. ::nod:: At some point in time, someone engraved a name or something in one of the scales but it's almost worn off. Doesn't bother me in the least though. Just gives it more character and shows that it was a treasured item of someone else long before my time. Cool! 8) :D

It was hard to catch the Tang stamp on a picture but I was still hoping someone could put a date on it for me. ::shrug::

Thanks for looking friends! ::handshake:: ::super_happy::

Tom, believe this is the George Washington knife. It came out late 1932 or 33 do believe . His name was carved in the handle at factory and knife came in a small box with paperwork describing the whole deal . There’s also a bigger version
Take care over there . ::handshake::
