'Z', since you are posting from your phone, before you post the picture, crop it. You don't have to actually take anything off it, just put it through the process and save it. Once you've done that, post the cropped picture.

It's odd as I already did that as on another group I'm on I can only post pics once they have been cropped a bit oh well the last pics I posted are the right way up

Interesting. That has been an ongoing problem here since Bryan upgraded the forum software. It has to do with the orientation tags embedded in the image and so far there have only been two solutions discovered. Either cropping before posting from a phone or downloading the image to a PC, correcting the orientation and then reposting (which is what I do when "fixing" images for others).

Best bet for preventing that? Open phone app. Tilt the camera until you verify the phone app "rotates" to your orientation. Tilt it back to how you want to take the photo and wait for the app to register it.jerryd6818 wrote:Interesting. That has been an ongoing problem here since Bryan upgraded the forum software. That should fix any mismatches between correct orientation and metadata. I don't think it's a phpbb issue.
Oh, and that cobbled 1st-gen 72? Outstanding! Great work, goldpan, and congrats to Greg on being the proud new owner of some amazing, intact Rogers bone-havin' Camillus goodness.

Re: camillus #72
I just received a Boy Scout 1047 with box! Its a long ling Camillus stamp and the best of all next to the price is it has a double sabre ground Master blade.
The price on the box? $2.25! I bought this one for the box. The double sabre grind is a bonus! And I think some one forced the patina on it. It just has that look to it. The cost? 20 bucks shipped.

Oh yeah I almost forgot. I have several of these scout 72's and this is the only one I have seen that is double ground!

Excellent pick up Randy. Those are pretty scarce.
Here's another one that doesn't show up to often on the bay if anyone is interested.

Re: camillus #72
I can see me collecting a few of these as users, the coping blade sharpened up really nicely and has become my new whittling pocket knife, what kind of price do they go for? I got mine as part of a trade but knew due to it's coping blade and comfy handle and being uk legal this would become a very carried knife

You could choose something a whole lot worse to spend your hard earned money on. Price is all over the place. I've bought them for as little as $10 and have paid as much as $40+. As with everything else, it all depends.............zed6309 wrote:I can see me collecting a few of these as users, the coping blade sharpened up really nicely and has become my new whittling pocket knife, what kind of price do they go for?

Let me see what I have.
Hmm. I have no problem reading the tang stamp. Are you sure your eyes aren't going bad?

Re: camillus #72
This has it's own thread but it also belongs here. This custom 72 clone (Powr-Kraft 84-11) was a collaboration between Tom Williams (CAMCO) (deceased long time Camillus employee and Camillus historian) and Dale (orvet). Tom donated the hardware and Dale donated the craftsmanship. I chose exterior ram's horn for the covers and it is out-(USMC expletive)-standing. Deep appreciation to both of those fine gentlemen.

Re: camillus #72
You guys have affected me such that now i don't like to let a good 72 go too low. Today i saw a nice 72, long underline, Delrin, one side saber so i bid not expecting to win, but i did, for $27. Appears unused. O.K. so nothing extra special about this one but surely $27 is a bit on the low side ?

Re: camillus #72
I would have paid in the $30's but then I'm a skinflint. The 72's go for less than you would expect. That's a good buy for one in that condition but not a spectacular, "call a cop" great buy. It has to be something "oh my God" extra special before I'll pay in excess of $40.
By the way. There's a bone handle, 1990's Ole Smoky on eBay right now. It goes out tonight and the bid is sock top low at this point.

I can't find 'Ole Smokey', maybe it has ended ?
1715 hrs PST now.
kj
Ooops, found it. it's Delrin is it not ??, flat grind, is it special in some way ?
I do prefer the older jigged Delrin as on knife i just won compared with the more recent pale Delrin that has no jigging near the bolsters.

As I said in my previous post, it's bone. One of three variations they made in the '90s that have bone handles. This one was SFO for SMKW.

Re: camillus #72
With those listing pictures handles could be bubblegum. The full flat grind is why i thought Delrin. But good to know it is a bone in hiding.

Edit to add: Thank you GURU 72 ! For $20.50 i am the proud owner of 'Ole Smokey', a 'newer' #72 with bone handles !
Jerry, i owe you a favor,
