Hubertus Lever lock/ friction folder ?

Post by conslade »

A friend brought his Hubertus to me for repairs. seems it would not open all the way when the lever is pushed. I played with it for awhile and found that the knife is also a friction folder. there is a nail nick and a backspring that puts pressure on the blade when opening. It is also a working leverlock, with the release pin and a blade with holes to lock open and closed. What gives? did Hubertus make it this way on purpose or is this knife some kind of mutant? I want to fix it for him, but I want answers before I start removing any metal from the backspring. Lookin' forward to some good discussion.

It probably just needs a new stronger spring . I have had this problem with some of their knives straight from the factory . A few times I have had to cut down a larger spring to get the tension required .

Thanks for the answer, Bob. I thought of reducing the spring width at the tang to give more clearance.
