He is, he has posted here when one of his knives was the center of conversation. I'm thinking olderdogs 1 knows him. I could probably find that thread.

Monte, no need for further ID. I looked at the listing, too expensive for me at this time.

Re: My Finest Queen
I have lusted after one of those since I first saw them, either one but most especially the black pearl. They're small. What? 3" closed? Somewhere very close to that. Like you Roland, I have never been able to afford one. Sigh.

Re: My Finest Queen
Those are four completely beautiful knifes that have been shown here.
QS - that jigging on that doctors knife is so nice that it makes it hard to notice the rest of the knife!
Joe, that President's Choice with the fine etches and fine MOP is really good. That is the first one of those that I have ever seen.
Charlie - that pearl knife is possibly the finest MOP knife handle that I have ever seen. The jigging, or should I say carving, is just enough to demonstrate the makers mastery of the craft and yet leave the full beauty of the natural pearl on display!

A 1995 Queen pearl handled Doctor Knife with an odd stamp on the tang of the spatula blade.

I too like Queen knives. Jerry, I think I have similar knives with a similar etch. I was told the meaning of that etch is that knife was the 52nd of 296 made. Here are a few of mine. The peanut is part of the master cutler series.

The number 052296 is Queens model number for that pattern.

Here is a 2001 Queen knife. A baloney pen, said to be real baloney, not made from leftovers & fillers. This one is my new "Finest Queen".

kj, Very interesting scales. No baloney tells me the coloration was natural, as is. No manipulation for effect. I imagine no two were identical.
A lovely catch.

Re: My Finest Queen
Years ago, in one of the very first articles I read about knife collecting, the author opined that for a knife to become a popular collectible the production run should find the sweet spot which he considered to be about 400 to 500 knives. His thinking was that this range allowed sufficient availability to generate interest but was not too abundant to reduce desirability.
Yet, for some time Queen and others have been offering quite a number of highly limited editions, typically from 25 to 50. They undoubtedly do this because they find it especially profitable. I do wonder how this affects the collectors market, versus the 400-500 mentioned by the cited writer. Anyone have some thoughts on this?

Re: My Finest Queen
What factors affect collectibility would make for a very interesting thread and there is much that could be said, so it could grow into a Phat Thread.

I think i have been posting too much lately. People likely would rather read what others have to say.

Re: My Finest Queen
The first of the PC series was a pearl canoe. Then a full size black horn with pearl shield elephant toe/sunfish. Then was the muskrat KJ posted. After that was my favourite, the 2004 small sunfish. IMO one of the best pocketknives of all time. In 2005 the PC was a beautiful 3 3/8 cigar band pearl whittler. In 2005 Queen also collaborated with Canal Street Cutlery with a 3 5/8 pearl whittler which has nice filework on the backsprings. This was the Chairman's Choice. 2006 & 2007 brought a set of mini toothpicks, one of which is left handed!
There was one other set of pearl Dan Burke collaborations, the doctor's knife with bg42 blades.
I will try and get some photos of these "Best of Queen's" but due to curious 5 year old fingers, nothing is particularly convenient.

Re: My Finest Queen
Robbobus, thank you for describing each of the Queen President's Choice knives. The 2 i have do seem to be a step up in handle material & F&F from other Queen knives.

Re: My Finest Queen
Here is the 2005 President's Choice whittler in French Polynesian Black Pearl. Thanks to traditionalpocketknives.com for having this one to complete my set a while back. I shouldn't say complete, but I have handled a few of the later (08,09) and they are not of the calibre of the 2000 - 2007 models. I'm home sick with a lung infection so I going post em all up.
Its under glass in a (cheesy) clock display hence the not crispy photo. I have a temptation to buy another for the pocket. I also have a desire to not be in debt also so...

Re: My Finest Queen
Here is my favourite Queen. The 2004 PC baby sunfish. One detail which I won't be able to capture are the 45° chamfered edges. The cast bolsters add an extra touch of class. I actually did buy a spare to use of this one. But I don't. I set them up for a group shot and the overcast day outside helped me get my best pearl shot ever. Click on the last shot, this pearl is outstanding. I likely have 50 pearl handled knives, the 04s are unparalleled. ::
Re: My Finest Queen
Next I present the 2005 Chairman's Choice whittler. This was a joint project with Canal Street and S&M. Pearl with fileworked backsprings
Re: My Finest Queen
2003, I think Roland already posted her up.
Re: My Finest Queen
2002. This os a chunk of a knife. Horn with a pearl shield. All the pc and cc knives have d2 blades except this one. 420 blades but it is a standout.
Re: My Finest Queen
2000 Canoe. Very nice initial offering.
Re: My Finest Queen
2006 & 2007 dueling toothpicks. The '06 is actually a lefty! The '06 is black pearl with a white pearl S inlay and the '07 is white pearl with a black pearl M inlay. They are quite diminutive.
