Who's into S & M?

Schatt & Morgan knives were first manufacturer back in 1890. The Queen Cutlery company made most of the more recent examples, but Schatt had its own plant in its earlier years that cranked out the oldies. There is no shortage of fantastic Schatt & Morgan knives in existance that have been made over the brand's long & storied history.

That's a great old knife.
When these old knives were made, the craftsman that built these knives never thought they'd be used a hundred years later. Amazing.

RalphAlsip wrote:The 4 1/4" Cigar pattern in any brand is a favorite of mine. The mark on this knife is S x M Gowanda NY which dates from 1897 to 1902. It has been used and sharpened and could use some TLC from an appearance standpoint. It is made from heavy stock with tight blades and tremendous snap. In the top down view notice how tightly the master spear and pen blades fit and sit in the blade well. Despite this tightness, there is no blade rub evident on either blade.

It will be another sad day in the knife world if we lose the knife making heritage of S&M.
That S&M is in incredible shape for a hundred year old knife. I do like the precision of the asymmetric grind and the fitting of those blades in the top down photo.

Couple of my latest S&M acquisitions...gotta grab 'em while you still can...these may be brand new knives but they're the last of a dying breed (so sad).

As the preceding posts by Q illustrate, I doubt that any knife manufacturer ever made prettier knives than S&M. S&M was the first production knife I ever bought [canoe] and I suspect one day it will be the last.

I can't seem to get enough of the S&M #99 Executive Jack; probably my #1 all-time favorite Queen pattern.

~Q~ you're knocking it out of the park with all those fine Schatts!

I though I had posted a few knives in this thread but I did a search and I think I've only posted one. Here are a few more.

Thanks Phil. I want to carry it so badly but it's just a little too big and heavy. A very well built knife though.

Great knives guys, great knives.

OK. I know the knives below are not S&M stamped. They're Queen City but most likely made from S&M patterns.

BTW......Risner has some really nice S&M's on sale. Check it out if you have some disposable income.

This Schatt & Morgan Factory Sample (1 of 1) Wharncliffe #22 Smooth Red Bone Small Coke Bottle set me back $110; but, just look at it...how was I supposed to resist such a rare beauty? (As is often the case, money was just a temporary obstacle, not a permanent impediment.)
