Thanks. I had to build drawers in order to hold my collection. 5 drawers and counting (not all S&M's, Queen, mostly Keystones, and other brands.). The way I'm buying knives, I'll need to build a few more.

Nice deal on that sunfish. Well worth what you paid.
Risner sells that knife for 120 bucks. Here's the link so you can get the specs on your knife.
Note: Risner states that it's 3" closed but I believe it should be 3 5/8".

It's a series 12 Keystone from 2002. I believe the keystone shield is Mother Of Pearl.

You are correct, the shield is MOP and the covers are Cape Water Buffalo horn. I remembered where it is and measured it. It is 3-5/8" closed. This is from the S&M 100th anniversary set. I have a few from the Keystone series.

I held back for a couple days.I just couldn't restrain myself any longer.

It was just about two weeks ago that I posted my satisfaction with S&M. This may have brought about some bad luck. Recently I have been accumulating scout/camping multiblades. I received three from S&M. All were fine looking knives: excellent materials; excellent finish in most respects. Unfortunately the fit was disappointing in two of the knives. This was immediately apparent from their really excessive blade rub.
One knife, the best of the three, was adequately sharp out of the box. The other two were not. In fact one knife gave no evidence of having been sharpened at all. I have never received a blade like this before. Forget about cutting paper; it might be used as a butter knife providing the butter was soft. Final tally: one knife was excellent; two were very disappointing. These defects would not be acceptable on knives costing less than half of the S&Ms.

Speaking of "less than half," I ordered a scout knife from Bear MGC. To my surprise I was very pleased with the knife. F&F were very good. Sharpness was okay. If it had a bail, this is the knife I would choose to give to a scout.

Plastic surgical enhancements. If that's what I was looking for, I'd just go buy myself a blow-up doll and skip all the drama.

Edit: Oops. This thread is about Schatt & Morgan. This is the last one I bought. I like the lines. The fit and finish is good. But the main blade feels "gritty" when opening and closing it.

Many of my S&Ms also have a "gritty" pivot on the main blade which is completely unaffected by oil/lubricants. I wonder why that is?

This Swell Center Trapper has a nice Spear/Wharncliffe combination, and I think the geometry of the frame & stag scales is pretty cool too.

I'm not sure when it was made. I won it in a raffle last year. I know it was a SFO for Derrick Bohn from Knives Ship Free.

I won this Harness Jack last summer here on AAPK in an auction to benefit the widow of Johnnie Fain. Made in a short run in 2005. Almost 4 inches closed. Pretty bone and fills the hand nicely.

I recently bought a little S&M that has the same "gritty" pivot. Close examination reveals that the bearing surface of the tang was not polished smooth. I think the tiny notches on the surface create the "gritty" feel.

I got this knife at a very reasonable price with the intention of using it as a carry knife. It is a bit smaller (3 1/2")than my usual carry size but I wanted something different for around the house in my pajama pants. I have always been partial to a sheepsfoot and the main blade is just about the size and shape of the sheepsfoot blades on the old stockman knives that I grew up carrying, while the clip point is about right for delicate tasks needing a good point. For what I intended, this knife is perfect. The walk and talk is exactly what I like other than the aforementioned grittiness. The grind on the blades, especially the main blade, left something to be desired. It took many hundreds of passes over a soft Arkansas stone to get a good edge on the main blade.

If you can live with the gritty pull, and are willing to do a good deal of sharpening to begin with, then I would say this is one fine knife! I like it!

A similar issue with this lockback. It's acquisition price was low enough so I can't complain much but its an S & M and should be better.

I'm hoping it goes away after working in.

I recently purchased that same heritage S&M in rosewood as you posted steel my heart, been carrying it for a week now and really liking it. Heres a pic of mine along with another in elk handle that was a recent purchase as well. I'm new to collecting and only have a handful of S&M knives so far but have been more than pleased with the quality.

Jerry - you really are a jack knife man! Beautiful knives! I think I have seen that Orvet knife before, but I agree with Bdev that we need the back story.
