Schatt & Morgan Doctor's Knives

The Queen Cutlery Company manufactured knives in Titusville Pennsylvania for 96 years. The company opened its only factory there in 1919 and commenced to make some of the best US crafted cutlery you will find. Unfortunately, the Titusville manufacturing plant closed down in 2018.

Schatt & Morgan Doctor's Knives

Post by Billswfl »

Doctor's Knives have always been one of my favorites. The reason I like Schatt & Morgan is the different blade configurations they offer. Spear & pen, clip & pen, spear & spatula and clip & spatula I don't have any of the single blade knives, but I have seen them.

Very nice set of Dr's you have.

I do have one that you need or that you did not show.

I gave this one to my Dentist last year. He took off $100.00 on his bill.

justold52 That pearl is really nice. I've done the same thing with my doctor.

I'm not in the hunt for any others at the moment I've got others on the list, watching a Queen built Winchester whittler on the bay and if I don't get it maybe the Premier series 9 Scout Jr.

Nice drs knives Bruce and Jerry. Jerry I can see why a lot of people don't like them other than collecting them they don't seem to make a good knife to carry.

Bill, I carried a Chinese Marbles for quite some time, until I had a brain fart and TSA confiscated it. I like the feel of a good Dr. knife in my hand. I bought a couple of the single blades when Case first started making them and found them unsatisfactory, both for looks and hand feel. Unless this is for Schatt & Morgan / Queen only, I'll post pictures later.

Jerry I'd like to see the pics. When I get home Sunday I'll post some of my Case doctors also.

Bruce I like that one. If it's a 297 pattern they also call it a small English Jack(Premier Series 7) and a Horticulturist knife(S&m Series 17 & 18).

Yes some times I to get confused.

Here is my first jigged Pearl Dr knife.

Queen DR. 96 Jigged Pearl Sheffield Steel 3 ¾”

I do not get to see any fire or nice pearl color on this one.

I also am in love with this Queens 96 Dr CSB.

Thanks K-Tracks. Here's a few more. I sold the Candy Stripe and Waterfall Classics a couple of months ago so now the Candy Stripe lives in Kentucky and the Waterfall went to Hawaii.

Edit: Just for the record, I don't like the single blades. ::huff::

  • The Parker I bought for toooo much when I was new and dumber than I am now.
  • The Marbles is a duplicate. I had bought one, forgot I had it and bought another. Since I then had two, I carried one for about a year before having a brain fart and losing it to TSA O'Hare. It's actually a pretty nice knife in spite of being made in China.
  • The Remington is just because I love abalone and couldn't afford a real knife with abalone.
  • The Colt is pretty nice for a China doll.

Is that some special knife? What year was it made?

Ken, mine and the one Dave (knowtracks) has are from the Schatt & Morgan Series VII set. That would have complimented your Series 10 pearl doctors knife very nicely. Too bad you gave it to your Dentist. Oh well. If you got $100 off your bill you got what it's worth. :)

Thank you Jerry D.

Yes I got my moneys worth out of that knife.

I just picked up the jigged pearl Dr. She is nicer than I thought.
It give the handles lots of traction. Not so slippery.

How ever I still like to see the fire in the pear better.
