Re: The Boker 'Scout'
kj, Boker is still using both the full "frosted" blade etch, the "Boker Manufaktur" etch, and NO etch! They seem to swap around. Makes it kind of difficult at times...
greedygulo, I knew that the Boker catalogs of the period had listed the 182 pattern as the 7593 pattern, but the two you show above are the first time I've seen both pattern numbers on the same knife.

Thank you Blue. Very helpful to know that you cannot use etch for dating.

Venice, That is a nice quality knife. Am very pleased with my own.
Re: The Boker 'Scout'
Agree. Very high quality. For me, too pretty to use. The stag is some of the nicest I have seen. Display only. Probably should think about letting go.Quick Steel wrote:Venice, That is a nice quality knife. Am very pleased with my own.

I understand. Mine is for display only also.
Re: The Boker 'Scout'
Thought I would add a contribution to this post. Here area few pics of my H. Boker & Co. I see in previous pics the pattern # is 182. Mine is a 7593. All blades have a tree stamp. Still in good shape with good snap all around. I always wondered if the markings on the bail were significant?

bkazz5, I like the bone. It has certainly held up well over the years.

Wade, do you mean the pattern in general, or as a Böker? Remington made the pattern also, the R3843. It was also part of the Remington reproductions series made by Camillus.Colonel26 wrote:Beautiful knives guys! I never knew about this pattern before this thread! Wow!
I’ve often wondered about the history of the pattern. Who originated it? (My semi-educated SWAG would be Böker. Probably brought to Remington by an ex-Böker cutler. Just a guess.) Here’s a Remington version for comparison.
