Re: My Latest Boker
Hi kj,
The UNITED BOKERS were made by Boker in Solingen for UNITED CUTLERY, the purchasing venture between SMKW and Blue Ridge knives.
They did use celluloid during this period. They made some beautiful Christmas Tree celluloid handles, and candy cane celluloid also.
The last knife you posted is delrin handled made in Solingen circa 1960s-1970s if I recall correctly. I think I have a couple extra of those tags with the red string if you want one.

Re: My Latest Boker
Boker made the Corn pattern circa 1905-1928, and the "King Cutter" blade etch was introduced around 1910, so definitely between 1910-1928.kootenay joe wrote:Here is a 3 1/4" Corn Knife, with ivory cell handles & "King Cutter" reverse frosted etch. Appears never used, back tang has an older version of the tree, and front tang: "H.Boker &/Solingen/Germany". Likely there should be a "Co" after the "&".
What is the likely age range of this knife. I think that corn knives have not been made for about 70-80 years. Anyone able to confirm or correct this ?
kj
I think it is closer to 1928 because the printing on the handle is a little different on the earlier knives. The 1928 catalog is the only one I've seen in which the handle printing is a perfect match with yours.

Re: My Latest Boker
Ranger, thanks for this help. Good to know that Boker Corn knives are from before 1929, and that celluloid was used on the United Bokers. The handles on my United Boker Congress need to come off.
Those Christmas Tree United Bokers look great but their lifespan is limited. Foolish decision in 1984 to use celluloid for knife handles.
I am o.k. with the red string having gotten cut but i had hoped that bone was still in use when this King Cutter stockman was made.
I have just learned a number of things here. Thank you.

Here are some Boker Poultry Shears, 10" "H. Boker & Co./Germany", with fancy handles. Unsure of age. Tree looks like 'older' version.

This is a very nice shadow stockman, model 6066 ZP, and has a tweezer and toothpick ala SAKs, and NO shield. I have seen a shield version which was a 6066 ZP II, so I assume mine is earlier. Etch is TREE BRAND over MADE IN GERMANY, and the tang stamp is BÖKER over SOLINGEN over GERMANY over STAINLESS.
Does anyone know when these were made? All help is greatly appreciated!

K7K, you did real good on that hunting knife! Worth at least 4 times what you paid for it.
It originally came with a sharpening steel and lanyard. This was made some time in the late seventies to early eighties.

I picked up this 3 1/4" Boker Congress yesterday at a gunshow for a few bucks (fiver). The master blade has the etch Tree Brand and the pattern number 5452. Nice red bone and rat tailed bolsters too.

Thanks for the info RBD! I have one of those sharpening steels I paired with a high end knife made in Denmark that was lacking it.It might come to rest in the Boker box lolrangerbluedog wrote:K7K, you did real good on that hunting knife! Worth at least 4 times what you paid for it.

Re: My Latest Boker
Here is a very nice Boker 2 blade equal end jack that is just a little over 3 5/8" closed. Tree Brand blade etch with pattern number 8842.
The etch, shield & handles are similar to the Stockman 605 that i posted at bottom of previous page, so is this also a Delrin knife from 1960's-70's ?
thanks for the help, kj

Yehuda, that is a great looking pick up.

Thanks man. I rarely see these offered and I expected the seller to want a lot more. Sometimes I get burned, sometimes I score big. The universe demands balance!

Re: My Latest Boker
I usually don't buy Boker knives, too much confusion on the "Country of Origin" issue for me. However, I was looking for a single blade folding Hunter in bone or stag, preferably not from a S.E. Asia maker, around the traditional 5 1/4" closed length. So I did a search and EVERY Case was some kind of commemorative or in Pakawood or some laminate.
Then I found the Boker 1010. At first I thought this wasn't coming from a country on my preferred list, but it says "Made in Germany." To top that, A.G. Russell had one, in limited quantities, for under $100 delivered. So I pulled the trigger. Can't wait to see it in hand.
I know this is a pretty common knife, anybody have one and what's your opinion? Thanks.

While looking for a single blade folding Hunter, I found this and couldn't pass it up. Didn't know anyone made a locking dual-blade folding Hunter? I need help.

Re: My Latest Boker
Wonder if Boker has anything planned with the knife's tang stamp coinciding with the calendar year?
