Post by Miller Bro's »

Can anyone fill me in on the details of this one? What are these numbers on the shield etc. Thanks.

After about a dozen years of manufacturing knives with mostly delrin handles, Boker brought out a special set in 1977 with bone handles. They made 5,000 sets with five different patterns. The second shield was for a stamped serial number, and the blade etch had the word "BONE" etched below the pattern number. They were really nice knives. Here's a picture of a whittler pattern from that series.

Sanders Knives had a 240 pattern from this series for sale in his store a while back. It is sold, but the pictures are still on the page.

IIRC, smiling-knife has a complete set of these knives!

Wow! Thanks for the quick response :)

It certainly is a well made knife and the bone looks like the stuff they used in the 1950's ::drool::

It sure does! ::tu::
It's interesting that yours looks like a 7474 pattern, and it has serial number 4747.
