Two 1969 Boker Trappers for $1030 !
That seller always has B.I.N. prices that suggest mania, not in touch with reality.
His most reasonable deal is a Schrade USA 125OT for $215: https://www.ebay.com/itm/Schrade-USA-12 ... Sw1~JZTrnl
I'll sell you one for only $100 !

Yes the seller is more interested in charitable donations (?) For his business than in offering a knife for a reasonable price. Trolling for suckers I guess.

He would probably charge you a 20% listing fee and a 50% final value fee. Of course all proceeds go directly to charity! :D

Yep, too bad those were made in 1984, not 1969 as he claims.
The $160 MSRP listed on Smoky Mountain Knife Works ad (attached) is a lot more realistic price - even today.

The Ditwit has what I like to think of as an "overly optimistic" view of knife values at times...

It's capitalism in an individualistic society fellas.

I am thinking of having volunteers capture a bottle of air from all over the planet, and selling these bottles as either regional sets or as assortment packs.
You can sniff the air from Mt Everest, and just a moment later sniff the air from Jamaica, or Puerto Rico.

5 bucks for a single bottle or 25.00 for a six pack assortment, and 20% of every sale goes back to "charity" in the region of origin. What do you want to bet they sell THOUSANDS of units?

My point here is, anyone will buy anything at any price just so they can have it. We are just smart monkeys. ::shrug::

I've over payed for rarities more times than I'd like to admit, but some prices are just phenomenally stupid and this guy takes the cake.

Hahahahahaha!!! Amen brother! I've thought of private messaging him and pointing out his obvious fallacies, but what good would it do.. maybe someone should send him a link to this thread!

I'm not slamming or condoning the fella or his methods. I just have to say that people do what they think is working for them, and will rarely change their M.O..
I work with a fella (almost daily), and to all outward appearances he is a great guy. People like him. BUT no one really respects him because no matter what the situation, if there is not a benefit in it for him he always has a reason that he can not be there.
If someones house burns down he is first in line to say "IF you need something, let me know" He NEVER says "What can I do to help". See the subtle difference?

So the object of this thread is really just one drop in a Giant ocean of people that fend for themselves in a world full of capitalists. Don't even get me started on Taxes... They take it when you earn it, and then again when you spend it. Then just IF you can buy something, pay tax on it, and sell it for a profit out of your already double taxed income... They tax you Again on the profit you made.

I say let the guy get what he gets. Those that know better are safe at home, and sleeping like babies.
Those that get fleeced just have too much money anyway or do not think things thru far enough to know better. Either way they are going to be taken advantage of somewhere else if not there.

If I pay 3 bucks for a 300.00 knife, I say so, and only ask perhaps 6 bucks for it. I doubled my money, and look like a fool but I sleep Very well. What more is there?

I notice that nobody commented on the rarity or collect ability of the knife. Also when a knife is made only for one company to sell does it make the item more or less collectible. I would not buy new art works thinking I will cash in on it in the future and a good dealer/store will tell you buy it too enjoy only. Now where did I put that crystal ball.
