Kennedy Commemorative Congress

Post by cookie58 »

Just wanted to show another knife. There is no fun in collecting them if you can't show-em. Just share with me what you think----rarity, value, and date. Thanks......

Well the quote on the main blade was from a speech given by Senator John F. Kennedy at the Boston Garden on November 7, 1960 so certainly sometime after that. The exact quote is "The kind of society we build, the kind of power we generate, the kind of enthusiasm that we incite, all this will tell whether, in the long run, darkness or light overtakes the world."

I wondered since it's a congress pattern if it was commemorating JFK as a Senator or as the President but in your 3rd picture the Kennedy half is from 1977 so my guess would be not before 1977? ::shrug::

Here's one on Canadian eBay selling for $129: http://www.ebay.ca/itm/Vintage-John-F-K ... SwWWxY99WN

Hope this helps!

Thanks Tom. I looked from your paste at the one on E-Bay and the Half was a 1984. I don't know if the half would match the manufacturer's date or not because they can be changed easily. Not because I own one, but it happens to be a real pretty Congress and stag to boot........Thanks...

That stag looks like what Boker was using in the 1980s and 1990s.
They were making a lot of commemoratives during that time too.
Under the UNITED BOKER label, they made two other Kennedy knives similar to this one. (1984-1994)
One was a two blade trapper, and the other was also a congress knife, but it had both John and Bobby Kennedy etched on the blades.
Then they made a Kennedy half-dollar coin and red bone copperhead knife combo set.
