Pre War Barlow Style Boker fresh find.

Post by D.rodgers »

My first post here I’ve been lurking for quite some time. Just acquired a farm fresh knife I’ve cleaned it up to preserve it. It has a pen blade that’s snapped off what would you do replace the blade with a blank of the same age or leave it as is since it fairly rare ?

I like the handle. A cool pick up for you. I was once a lurker, you will enjoy it here.

Hi guys, sorry to jump in on your posts, but I always have trouble finding out how to start a new topic.
Anyway, my brother in law has an old Boker Barlow and I was wondering roughly era.
He has had it quite a while. It is bone, no Boker on tang just model number. Boker Tree is on the bolster. Blades are tight. Liners are brass.
Bolsters look iron, but I am not sure. I am attaching pictures.
Thank you so much.

The OP knife is not a Barlow.

I think edge213 is referring to the knife that started this thread, although I'm not sure of the relevance frankly. ::shrug::

To segue into addressing your question, Beag1eGal, your 492 in what seems to be smooth bone is not pre-war. I suspect it's from the 1950s-60s but I'm just spitballing based on some of the USA Boker Barlows I've had and handled. The liners are brass and I think the bolsters might be nickel silver. Someone will be along with a better idea soon, hopefully...
