1920s H. Boker & Co. Boy's Knife

Post by rangerbluedog »

This has been a holy grail knife for me for about 9 years.
I finally sneaked up on this one. I find pictures of these knives in knife catalogs from 1908-1928. The tang stamp is 1920s-1930s per the 2009 Knife World article by Mark Zalesky.
So I'm guessing this one was made in the 1920s. The stamped metal handles would have originally been painted with brown enamel to look like dyed bone. Not many of these old boy's knives have survived until today.

Proud for you rangerbluedog, always satisfying to find something you have been looking for. Unusual knife, will the handles rust?

Congratulations Blue. Must feel good that the search is finally over. That's quite a long time to be patient. I don't know if I would have the ability to wait that long. Very happy for you Sir. ::nod::

Thanks Guys,
Yes, the metal handles will rust - and there are a few specks on it already. There are some remnants of brown paint still there.
I think an oil dipping will do it a bit of good.

Congrats. Ricky! ::tu::
A pocket knife is still an intimate personal possession of the individual who carries it and consequently deserves the best of materials, finish and workmanship in its production. (Quoted from Boker's 1928 cutlery catalog).
