Although I have about a dozen GECs I don’t consider myself a GEC collector nor do I keep up with all things GEC. What are you trying to accomplish with re-covering, blade deletes and re-sharpening? Given what you must have invested by that point why not just have a custom knife made to your specifications of handle covers, blades, etc?

I love sheepsfoot single blades.
So I bought 2x 86 Angus jacks.
I'm having the secondary blades removed to thin the knife a bit.
While it's apart, I'm having some fancy jigged bone added.

It's just a fun way to have a unique knife.
And if you get the knife direct from a retailer the cost is far less than a custom maker.

I'll have about $250 in each of them. They will be unique and to my exact taste.

Tom krein of krein knives can make your blade extra slicey.
Mostly my goal is to remove the bull etch on the Angus jack blade. The blade will be a bit thinner, have no etch, and be extra slicey.

Here's a Churchill I had recovered in black and white Micarta. It's the only picture I have access to at the moment. The other side is all white Micarta.

Thanks for the education. Not my thing but they're your knives so if you like it and can afford it, more power to you!

I had two done by Muskrat Man. The first was a gaudy glitter gold TC Barlow. I had it switched with Amboynia wood instead. A giant improvement over the original.
The second was a Beer and Sausage knife. I had the fork and the comb removed to make it thinner and green maple burl replaced the Micarta handles.
It’s my version of the Northwoods 35’s that I had no chance of picking up.

Great choices! The perfect example of making a classy knife that gec opted to not make.
