New 68s!

Post by Rimfirekyle »

I really enjoy the new 68s, a little small for me and the lack of half stops was a bit surprising. But overall a nice little knife! I now regret not reserving the recently announced white owl.

This one’s been with me lately, good overall carry size for me.

Nice knife and it looks like a nice dusting of snow too. They're getting some snow in Western Maryland today.

Half stops are possibly just on the Northfields and this is Tidioute. Maybe on the WHs coming up.

Possibly, yes but if history repeats itself, the White Owls likely will not have half stops because they are still the #68 pattern. Generally speaking, GEC has historically changed the pattern number when half stops are added or deleted.

For example, the #53 and #54 patterns are both equal end frames of the same length and shape. The #54's have half stops but the #53's don't. Although we don't know for sure, the only logical reason for the change in pattern numbers is the half stops and/or lack of them.

Previous #68 White Owl runs did not have half stops but like you said, anything is possible with GEC.

You are probably right, I was just trying to look for a reason. However, I do like the half stops on the couple GECs that I have.
