From a couple years ago, a bum knee kept me from going this year, pretty bummed about it.

Not my knives . These GEC#93 knives were bought at 2019 Rendezvous. The GEC#93 Rendezvous white bone exclusive is a hit.

I picked up two knives at the 2019 GEC Rendezvous, and stood in line almost two hours to get in to the store. It was worth the wait, and the Rendezvous, my first at GEC, was a good time. Long drive for me from Northen Illinois, but still a worthy trip. I picked up a Boys Knife, 141118, which is a nice looking little guy. Rust Red JiggedBone handles, and clip blade. And all steel, bolsters, liner, everything is steel.

But my real find was a # 47 Viper, a special factory order for Horween Leather in Chicago in 2016. I believe there were only about a dozen made. Black Micarta handle, Wharncliffe blade, just a stunning knife. The pattern when put next to my recent #93 Ramsfoot is the same exact knife except for the Wharncliffe instead of sheepsfoot blade style. Or it sure seems to be. This one has a hand etched "S" in front of the knife number, for seconds, but I cannot find a flaw. The only difference between this and the Horweens is there is no printing on the blade with the Horween name. I really love the feel in my hand, I have become really fond of swaybacks in general.

Got to meet Bill Howard the day before the Rendezvous started, and got a tour of the factory from Bill with a group of about 10. It was a great time, GEC is really a tiny operation, but has a large footprint in the traditional pocket knife world. It was my first trip to Titusville, and I drove by the old Queen Cutlery building. Kind of sad, looks like it's been abandoned for 20 years instead of just a few.
