Wow, great #73's being posted here. I think the ones with end caps really stand out. They make the knife look more finished somehow. Thanks for the pictures.

These are suppose to be the only 2 Proto Types made for that Pattern . ::ds::

Beautiful wood on your 73 !
I think wood with interesting grain or no visible grain as in old black ebony, makes for some of the most attractive and most durable handles. Stag, bone, pearl & ivory are all more likely to crack or a have a missing chip.

Pics don’t do this one justice. Looks much better in hand. I looked for one of these for two years before I found this one.

I'm thinking if Ken Daniels signed your COA there may be others of that ilk lurking about! :D

I didn't mean that as an insult. He was known to supply some special knives to friends and favored dealers though. I'm just saying there may be more around than you think.

Then I guess by that there record keep is not accurate and the COA's mean nothing ? That's Sad Maybe Christine should know this to update her records ::shrug::

"m0nk" (?) explained in another thread that a few extra knives are made with every run. Then if a knife gets 'messed up' in production, there is an extra one to fill in. At the end of the run if the extras were still available, Ken D. might ask to have them hafted is some special handle material. These might have been given by Ken to business associates as a gift for their help.
I understood Greg's statement to mean just what he said: it is quite possible that there are a few others, based on explanation above. I think "few" equals a very low number, like 2 or 3.
Same poster also said there were no records kept of the 'extras'.
Hence if you have a GEC knife with a handle that does not show up on the GEC "Production Totals" data it might be one of these 'extras' or a knife in which original handles have been replaced. If you have a COA then you know your knife has the original handles.

KJ I understand that they maybe a few extra than there production Totals Data But there should not be EXTRA'S of Proto that state 1of 1 or 1of 2 . That would make me believe that the one Proto that Caddyman1973 & the one I have could be a Few more as you stated and As Greg implied .There are a lot of other people that read this info so . I would hope that as an expert on GEC's That what we discuss doesn't leave doubt in the GEC collectors mind I 'm Posting some Proto all signed by Ken Daniels some that have 1 of 2 and most that don't give any amount. The one's that don't give an amount there may be more than 2 ? And my point to Greg was that I believe Ken Daniels to be and Honest person and if there is info to prove me wrong show me the knives. ::groove::

Beautiful knives KK !
But i do not understand what it is that you are concerned about. The knives are all GEC, the COA's are correct. What is the 'issue' that i am not getting ?
Certainly no one here has stated or even hinted that Mr. Daniels is anything other than straight forward and honest.

I didn't mean to set your hair on fire KK. Let me restate that. The knives that are marked simply as Prototype on the COA and are signed by Kenneth Daniels may be one of mutiple example . I had previously believed that all the prototypes number no more than two But I have found that not to be true. You may now continue your journey down the Yellow Brick Road, and pay no attention to that man behind the curtain. All is well in OZ.
