New run of 66 Calf Ropers, or something like them

Post by Gunstock Jack »

GEC has announced a run of 66 stock knives right after the 38s. This little (3 1/2") serpentine stockman features a lot of blade in a compact package, and is on my "favorites" list.

This is the latest info:

Tidioute:
Jigged Bone - color to be determined
Gabon Ebony Wood
OD Green Canvas Micarta

Northfield:
Jigged Bone - color to be determined
Acrylic
Sambar Stag

I have 2 GEC # 66, a Harness jack & A Double End jack. This size & shape i think is perfect for a pocket knife.
It is 3 1/2" but sturdy, more so than a slender 3 1/2" Pen knife. These are 2 of my favorite GEC's. Even though my pics are not very good you can still see why they are favorites.

Nice ones KJ! Here are my three 66's... Moose, Jack, and a recently acquired mink skinner in sea glass perylic. Looking forward to adding a calf roper to the family!

Has any further word trickled out on these yet?
Northfield bone color?
Any kind of time frame?
I think the 54's are about finished, and the 38's are in production now...does that mean the 66's are on deck? ::pace:: ::

Trying to grasp the ephemera of the GEC production schedule is like trying to herd cats. Sure, it can be done if you dedicate enough effort to it, but who has that kind of time or energy?

Hoping Barry does, and will chime in soon. ::nod::

FWIW, and a little off topic, Chris at GEC told me the color of the Northfield acrylic is still TBD.

http://greateasterncutlery.net/blog/pro ... -schedule/

GEC updated their production schedule and it looks like the calf ropers are next up! Quite the variety too, very cool, a little something for everybody. I see there is an SFO for Smoky Mountain Knife Works in there, is that a first? ...and it's in what sounds to me like an awesome bone variation too, dark chestnut peachseed...wondering if SMKW has any kind of pre order or if it's just luck of the draw when they happen to pop up on their site...

A few of them are at dealers now.

Ebony Wood
Antique Autumn
OD Green Canvas Micarta

That's it so far to the best my knowledge but the others are either still in production or soon to be in production. According to the dealer, the Blood Red is expected around mid July. My favorite so far is the Antique Autumn.

That antique autumn has some unique jigging on it, looks really deep and grippy...I bet that will develop some great pocket wear over time.
The desert ironwood is very cool as well, each one looks a little different, I like it.
