I asked them at the factory if they would be making more whalers...I think his name was Chris ,he said they are a very hard blade to grind. Thats why they haven't been making them. I love them.So far I have collected12 Elephants , Whalers and Sunfishes ,mostly GEC's. I'd trade all 28 mint Case knives I have for 6 mint Whalers. When I learn how to take good pics I'll post some pics here.

Are the blades on that Roughneck thick or thin?

The main blade is thick and the small clip blade is about half the thickness of the main blade.

Here are mine. I like that the Desert Ironwood one has a burled look. I think it is kind of unique.

ya, I started to rationalize ... well, if I went to the rendezvous, by the time I paid for plane fair, hotel, means to get around, food and build that into the cost of the knife I'm really not paying that.....wait, I can't get this right now, thats $450 for a knife... ya almost got me...lol.

http://www.engravingextraordinare.com/ I was looking for a while to see about getting scroll work done on a knife and could not decide. I ended up getting two whalers when they first came out and thought OK let's try it. I was more than pleased with the end result.

I ended up with an extra Desert Ironwood #46 Whaler. I mailed it off and 4 months later, I got this gem back. Mammoth Ivory with superb fluted bolsters. Here is a few pictures:
