thats what Jay Rouch (CEO KnivesShipFree) wrote in a FB group:
There's not a single one stop shop that made these.
The steel is the same 1095 GEC and other manufacturers use.
Heat-treated and cryo tempered by a professional heat treating company.
The handles are CNC'd from a local machine shop, from a 3D model I made.
The sheaths are my design produced by a company that normally makes other leather products.
They were assembled as a completed product here in-house. I've been making knives since I was a kid.
Every step of the process is USA materials and produced.
It's a project that I couldn't get created in one-stop shop and get the results I wanted. So I made it happen in a way that got me the results I wanted.

Thanks! Guess we'll see if Northwoods is popular due to GEC or if it can stand on its own. Still its pretty cool - I'm a little more interested now...

Oiled smooth white bone barlow. 44 white bone made with leftover parts. One went to a GEC employee and two to Charlie Campagna. (He had one re-handled in stag.)

Thanks Lloyd. It took a lot of work with a belt sander to get the jigging and dye off of those scales! :)

I hope I don't get into trouble here. I was looking at some GEC's and some were for sale at the price of very fine vintage knives. Are they bringing these prices or are the dealers just fishing?

There are threads here complaining about “flippers” asking high prices for GEC knives. Also complaints about flippers having somehow obtained several knives in a GEC “release” when most collectors cannot get even one. Apparently it depends on the pattern. eBay sold listings are a better guide than what sellers are asking, but I see sold listings varying from $92 up to near $500 for various patterns.

My GEC collection is limited to less than 15 knives including AAPK forum knives, and I don’t get into the fray over any pattern. Maybe a real GEC collector can explain what makes some patterns hotter than others. ::shrug::

I only have one GEC SFO that is not either an AAPK, BF, or NKCA club knife. It is this 2015 Washington jack made for Charlie Campagna. I bought it from Charlie at the 2016 OKCA show in Eugene.
