Case shield, donor bone?

Post by glennbad »

I am doing this project for a guy. This knife was his Grandpa's, and he said his ex-wife smashed it up with a hammer. I guess I am a sucker for a family heirloom, I told him I'd take care of him. I am looking to try to get things back as close to what it used to look like before. At the very least, I am looking for a period shield as pictured, and in the off chance someone has a donor knife with the same redbone, let me know. It's a nice story, I know I'd be pretty ate up if someone did that to a family knife like that.

Thanks for reading.

Glenn, I have a few old Case shields and I just bought a few more.
What are the dimensions of that shield and I will check and see if I have one.

That's the problem, I don't have the old shield, it went wherever the old covers went.

It is a 2-pin shield, that much I know. I still haven't gone through the small handful of shields I have yet. Thanks for the offer, I may hit you up.

Glen,
Measure the distance between the shield pin holes and I will check my older shields for a match.

Glenn, I also have a couple newer Case shields that were glued in of those are of interest to you.
I'll be home in a couple days and can give you the size.

I was looking, and I do have a glue-in shield that would work, but I'm still shooting for a pinned one. I took some measurements. From center to center of pin is approx. 5/8". I also measured outside to outside of pins, approx. .6495" and inside to inside of pins, approx. .565"

Thanks,
Glenn
