BOTM's / 2018 - 2022

Hoyt Buck produced the first Buck Knife in 1902. Hoyt and his son Al moved to San Diego and set up shop as H.H. Buck & Son in 1947. Al Buck revolutionized the knife industry in 1964 with the infamous Model 110 Folding Hunter. The company's innovative history and attention to quality have made for many great collectible knives.

Thanks, Eveled...

To my knowledge, there is no Buck BOTM thread, so I would say...go for it with photos of what you have. Photo's of BOTM knives would maintain the continuity of the BOTM list. ::tu::

Thanks, LJ. I like that one a lot too. I’ll get a pic of my third BOTM up sometime today.

Here's my other BOTM. It appears that Buck made a boo boo. Not on this knife but in their Custom Shop.

Sometime shortly after this BOTM was released, they added Crelicam Ebony as one of the handle options in the Custom Shop. Nickel Silver, Rivets, and S30V are also Custom Shop options. In other words, you can get this same configuration in the Custom Shop now which in my opinion, voids the "Limited" aspect of this particular BOTM.

My COA says that the wood is African Ebony but if I'm not mistaken, African Ebony and Crelicam Ebony are one and the same.

That's another nice one, Rick. Nothing better than an ebony handle. Durable and very long lasting.

As to "Crelicam ebony and African ebony", you're right, they're one in the same. However, the word "Crelicam" is actually the name of the sawmill in Camaroon where Bob Taylor gets his ebony cut and manufactured. It is African Ebony that is being harvested / re-planted. The term 'Crelicam Ebony' is a misnomer. But Buck and other venues use the term interchangeably with African Ebony. "Crelicam" is not an actual wood product that grows. African Ebony is.

This link explains a lot about what is confusing about creilcam and ebony, per se.
