Buck is great!

Hoyt Buck produced the first Buck Knife in 1902. Hoyt and his son Al moved to San Diego and set up shop as H.H. Buck & Son in 1947. Al Buck revolutionized the knife industry in 1964 with the infamous Model 110 Folding Hunter. The company's innovative history and attention to quality have made for many great collectible knives.

Buck is great!

Post by Byrd »

I sent their warranty department this trashed 703 at the end of April for a reblade. Since it's a discontinued model they replaced it with a new 303! They even gave me a cool sticker and a 25% off coupon on a new purchase from their website. Customer for life here!

Good going! You rarely see that kind of customer service anymore. ::tu::
And a ::tu:: for Buck. I'm pretty sure that is says 705 on the tang of the smaller knife.

You are correct! It is a 705! Also correct about Buck service. They're top notch. I've got a trashed 110 that I'm going to send for a reblade after this positive experience.

To add to the story, I enclosed. $10 check to pay for the reblade of the 705 and they sent it back saying the replacement was free of charge!

I’m not the biggest Buck knife fan, but I am a fan of the Buck company. They cannot be beat. Their service is so far beyond top notch.

I know this is an old post, but I have to say Buck is a great company! I sent an old Buck 301 Stockman for a loose blade repair. I received an email from Buck saying the repair would be no charge because the knife is under warranty. I responded by saying I would pay for the repair because it was an old knife and I had put it through its paces over the years. Buck said the knife would be repaired free of charge and given the spa treatment! Hats off to Buck for standing behind their products!!! ::ds::

::ds:: Buck customer for life here! I'm waiting on a 2 dot 110 that I sent in for SPA treatment. Should be here this week. For $6.95 you get a refurbished knife. What's not to like about that!

I sent 2 off for attention, but they’re both new. A 301 and 112. I’m eager to get them back but with current circumstances, I know it may be a while. At the time they were working on jobs from mid-Feb, about a month back. I would imagine they may be even more short staffed now.

Got the email today mine have been evaluated and are being processed. They received them on 3/23, so I'd say that's pretty darn good for how things are these days. No telling when I'll get them, the 112 is up for repair/spa and the 301 inspected replacement.

Well, Buck did it again!! I sent them 3 knives A Buck 500, 503, and a 301. All three needed blades from my hard use over the years. I just received them back. They replaced the blades on the 500 and 503. The 301 I sent this time had the blade tip broken off. Buck sent me a new 301 because they said due to age knife is unrepairable. Like I stated last time on this thread you can't beat Buck!!! ::tu:: The 500 and 503 look new I could not believe they were my old knives. ::ds::

Byrd,
I was curious the 110's you had the blades replaced on. The date stamp is it a + sigh? The reason I ask is the 500 and 503 I got back with new blades were stamped with the + and the 301 they gave me for replacement also had a + I think it means it is a 1991 knife and blades or could it be replacements are marked with the + sign? ::hmm::

Today's the day!
What's different is these are 2 new Bucks. I bought each, then exchanged, still neither was quite right.
For the 112, Copper and Clad said they'd hand pick another for me, and what I got back was better, everything flush, but even with oiling and working it, was hard to open/close and off center.
The 301, like the first I got, was kind of limpwristed, no snap, felt like weak springs. I assume that's more about the base of the blade not having enough girth to push on the spring enough. This is not how a Buck feels. Also gaps were pretty bad.

They received on 3/23, so it's right at a month. I'm happy with that.

The 112 got worked on, spa treatment (not that it's necessary being new). It's exactly what I wanted. Very smooth, centered and looks great.
The 301...they replaced "QA MANAGER TO INSPECT BEFORE SHIPPING". Unfortunately, it's got pretty much the same action as the other 2. Maybe a bit better. It's otherwise a great knife. I still love it. Looks great, feels excellent and very sharp without even touching it up. I wish they would get this thing feeling more like my 55 or my Bokers, but I guess that's a level of work that would be beyond just warranty work. If it passed inspection, this is how Buck wants it. so I'll go along.

During the wait, I ordered the distressed sheath for the 112. The one that came with it may be leather but compared to my old 110's sheath, it feels like cardboard. This one is a lot nicer.

So, I'm more or less happy with the 301, but extremely happy with the 112 and Buck's handling of all of this, especially with all that's going on these days.
