More excitement from Buck for 2018
We were discussing the new Buck gents knives in TwoFlowerLuggage's thread. Here is one of my favorite Buck Knives and some new variations for this year. A return of the Bucklite in a new form will make many folks happy, but my most desired is a high grade Buck 110 Folding Hunter Pro with S30V blade steel and nickle bolsters and with upgraded scales. There is also an elite auto version. I'm sure much more will be divulged during the SHOT show this month. OH

Tisk tisk tisk, you need to go get you a standard 110. You'll wonder how you ever did without.

A Buck 110 and 119 are pretty much standard operating equipment.

Re: More excitement from Buck for 2018
One moment of excitement for me was J Hubbard's comment that there will be a 112 version of the new LT 110. All tho I have and use different models from Buck my main collecting intrest is in 112's. The news that Buck will have a brand new 112 is really great! I'm looking down the road for limited color's and especially for advertising and promotional 112's. I really thought the Ecolite was going to have a permanent position in Bucks model lineup. So it's great to see a new 112 coming hopefully this year.
Re: More excitement from Buck for 2018
Glad to see Buck giving the light weight 110/112 a try once again. I love my Paperstone 112! I had a red ecolight 112 years ago but mistakenly left it in the glovebox of a truck when I sold it. I hope the new light weight version sell so they keep them in the lineup. One complaint I hear a lot is how old fashioned the 110/112 is and that Buck should come out with lighter version, pocket clips, different blade shapes etc. Well, Buck has tried it all and apparently, like me, people just prefer the brass & wood versions.

Has Buck discontinued the paperstone series of knives ? I'm thinking they have since I have not seen any for sale for a good while.

Yeah Phil, dropped them a few years back, why I don't know. These LT's are the new lightweights; heard there may also be a 112 LT coming. OH

Are there any 110LT s available? Or 112LT now?jmh58 wrote:There is a rumor that the LT110s will be available in colors too.. And a LT112 is coming too!! John
I don't see any in various outlets as I had seen previously.[110's]
Thanks

Re: More excitement from Buck for 2018
The thing that has always kept me from carrying a Buck lockback is the position of the lock being so far back on the handle. It just makes it too unwieldy to close one handed. If it had a mid lock, one hand closing would be much quicker and simpler. I am fine with using two hands to open the knife, but having to use two hands to close it doesn't work for me.

i guess it's what you are used to. The first lock backs I ever owned were a Buck 112 and a Puma Game Warden so their style of lock back seems natural. Mid locks seem harder to unlock.313 Mike wrote:The thing that has always kept me from carrying a Buck lockback is the position of the lock being so far back on the handle. No love for the 110 Auto Elite? Th S30V steel and G10 scales seem to be the hot ticket. This knife should hold its edge through skinning at least three deer before taking it to your Spyderco Tri-angle "Sharpmaker".

Re: More excitement from Buck for 2018
I'm probably going to buy the S30V Buck Pro Hunter (non-auto). I expect the steel to perform at least as good as 440C or 425 MOD, both of which I can clean (skin and rough butcher) three deer without touching up - of course I am careful of my edge while working around bone. Cannot say that for the 420HC, about one is the limit with some mild touching up. OH

I’ve been eyeing those 110LT s30v models. I may have to put that in Mrs. Clause’s list for Christmas.

Well, I'm confused. I went and looked for that 110LT s30V model and there are about forty eleven different models wearing that badge. What the hey am I looking for?

I think those with the G-10 handles are the only ones that have S30V steel.jerryd6818 wrote: ↑Fri Jun 19, 2020 3:30 pmWell, I'm confused. I went and looked for that 110LT s30V model and there are about forty eleven different models wearing that badge. What the hey am I looking for?
Of course, from a cost standpoint, I'd love to see plastic-handle 110LTs that use all the steels Buck has used; from regular runs to special; just for those that like to try out different steels. Sorta like a Buck version of the Spyderco Mule. I have the Shield and am thinking about getting the Smokejumper that use the CPM-154 steel. So far, that is the only steel I have seen that comes close to the 440C of old. It is actually slightly better in my use. The S30V Bucks are on the expensive side, and so far, I'm looking at the Spitfire in S30V; as it is the cheapest.
Re: More excitement from Buck for 2018
Yes there’s several LT models and I don’t know all the differences. There maybe other steel options out there.
