Re: Post your carved spoons
Thanks guys. Miss that boy. He had a portable saw mill he'd drag into the woods and cut railroad ties all day by himself. I just reread my original post and realized I said we lost him "10 tears ago". What an interesting slip ! I meant "years" but .....

Here is one I whittled, just using a knife - no bent knife or gouge.

I always enjoy your utensils Scott. Thanks for sharing. You do those on the same day you did your 12 mile hike.

Re: Post your carved spoons
I had no idea that carving spoons was a thing until I saw this thread. It looked like a good way to pass an afternoon, so I threw my hat in the ring. This post is a bit of a re-run as I had posted it in a different sub-forum. This Cedar was taken from a hurricane victim on my place three years ago. I have used most of what I had milled in other projects, so I am down to mostly sap-wood remaining. The last shot is with it sealed with olive oil.

Re: Post your carved spoons
This is made of sugar maple straight from the firewood pile. I rubbed a balm used for cutting boards on it in hopes that it would darken, but no luck.
