Only just got round to looking at this forum. Whittling and carving is not such a big thing over here, at least not in this format. I don't know Don, but all I can say is "Respect"!!!
Gino, I can see why you love this carving and enjoy it so much. Wonderful piece of art indeed!

Danged if'n he don't look a li'l like you Perry!
Don's work is incredible! The way he keeps his cuts loose but still has detail in just the right places, especially in the painting. Check out the eyes!

I got one of Don's masterpieces for my Dad's birthday. I don't know if I've shared these pics or not, but my Dad is rightfully proud of it.

Hey Blue, when I try to look at the pic it tells me the attachment doesn't exist anymore? Could you please re-post, as I'd love to see it - I have only recently discovered Don's work but am totally fascinated!

Don's work is some of the best I have saw.I'm sure anyone "including me"would love to own one of his works.I do a little whittling, and I have a good idea of how much time and work that it takes to git a peace like that..I sure would like to have a chance to buy one of his pieces also.Don is the man win it comes to carving.

I was reading the "whittler" thread and Carvin Don came to mind so I thought I would pull up this old thread so some of the newer members could see our beloved fellow members work, he is awesome!!!

Re: CARVIN DONS LATEST GEM
Well daggone I have learned something new today. I always thought whittling was sitting around cutting on a stick. Out of curiosity I decided to venture into a different area of AAPK to take a look around and look what I found.
I have never seen more impressive work and am at awe of such quality craftsmanship. Anyone would be proud to own such a fine piece of art.
Carvin Don my hat off to you with great respect
