Post by Ribbit »

Found this one last week...
17 5/8 blade
20 1/5 overall length
Orange arsenal, slazenger grips
Neat piece, felt like showing it off.
Any other information is appreciated.

Military items are not really my thing but that looks like a really nice piece. It seems though, that most of the bayonets I've seen are a bit shorter in length. I wonder if there is a reason that particular one is much longer. Maybe it had a specific purpose? Or dual purpose?

It's age is why it is so long. The older the bayonet, the longer it should be. As rifles got better bayonets got shorter.

Add into this lots of old long bayonets where shortened when the next war rolled around. Either as bayonets or knives.

Nice find OP.

Ok. The X is the bend test stamp
I had in the past about 100 of these
Mint ones of these are easy to get on US eBay with the sheath
