Repro TL-29

Post by cody6268 »

I saw this on Sportsman's Guide, and at first thought it was one of the NOS Camillus #27s when I clicked on it. However, it's a reproduction of a later, 1960s era Delrin handled TL-29, which would have fewer pins. Handles are "resin" instead of wood or Delrin, liners are steel, not brass. It appears to be modeled after a mix of WWII and later TL-29 knives. I don't know if anyone here has bought one of these, but I'd like to know how the thing stacks up to a US made electrician's knife.

TL-29s, or even civilian electrician's knives aren't hard to find cheap. Usually, a new Kutmaster or NOS Camillus will run you less than $30. Used electrician's knives are very cheap--my Camillus cost me $10. Here's a WWII Camillus TL-29 being sold here at the AAPK store for $30. To make a reproduction, anyone could take a regular electrician's knife to a jeweler and have it engraved "TL-29".
