That is actually very cool.
Back in the day 1/2 of everything built in America was made with those. Today you can barely find one.

I'm sure you guys have seen the "Northmen" videos. I love them.

Ohhhh dude! (no offense)
You HAVE to see them. These fellas live in Latvia or some place like that, and did you notice how sharp their tools are?
They make everything! From Axe to finished houses, and actually everything needed to live.

Look up NorthmenYouTube https://duckduckgo.com/?q=NorthmenYoutu ... &ia=videos
or JohnNeemanYoutube https://duckduckgo.com/?q=JohnNeemanYou ... &ia=videos
or NorthmenGuildYouTube https://duckduckgo.com/?q=NorthmenGuild ... &ia=videos

There are a couple of days worth of videos, and they are beautifully filmed, have the nicest music, and their craftsmanship is second to none.
It's all "feel good" viewing. ::not_worthy:: ::not_worthy:: ::not_worthy:: ::not_worthy:: ::not_worthy::

I see a lot of those draw knives here in the NE and used one a great deal building a four story house in the ADK's, a leanto and a shed and an outhouse. Maybe more but that's what I remember. I still have my draw knife. We shaved/debarked white and red pine, spruce and poplar mostly.
Seeing one brings back good but sticky memories.

Scott I do believe Jerimiah Johnson used one of those to build his log cabin. :D

My Dad had a couple of those that he said he got from his Dad. They were hanging with a bunch of other old tools around the patio of my parent's house. I think my brother ended-up with all of them when we cleaned their house out after my Mom died.
