Collins fun

Post by muskrat man »

For those of you who aren't on axe junkies I thought I'd post this here for you. This was an old sticker marked collins boys axe head. It was quite thick and had some ugly drop forging marks. Phantom bevels seem to be pretty popular so I cut some in (just to see if I could) and mirror polished the whole works. Thought it turned out pretty nice. Not sure if I'll hang it, keep it, or offer it for sale it at the Axetravaganza next month.

Wow .. .. .. just WOW .....

Never heard of or seen 'phantom bevels' on an ax. Have to say I like the look.

So, how much Flitz did it take to achieve that incredible shine ??

Not a drop, all sanding and buffing ::tu::

There were a good many axe manufacturers who made axes with phantom bevels, collins included I just wanted to see if they could be added after the fact to a "regular" axe.

Nice muskrat man ::tu:: ... I think some axe heads look pretty cool when buffed up... I have seen some where the axe head shines and the maker etch on the head is left dark which to me makes a pretty cool effect... funny I can accept this on some axe heads (not all) but a buffed knife is just plain wrong ::hmm:: :D ....
