This Knife came out of the back of my mom's kitchen drawer. She got it from the back of her grandmother's kitchen drawer. If it came with her from Iowa it's been in Montana since the mid 1880s.
There are no marks of any kind on it. It's 11 3/16ths inches. Brass pins, tapered tang, and wooden handles. The tang, bolster, ricasso? and blade are all one piece. The blade tapers to paper thin at the end so the last 1/3 is pretty flexible.
I'm trying to figure out the age. A friend says it's pre-civil war. I'm not so sure. I thought the Brass pins would make it newer than that. What do you think? Thanks
Bruce
how old is this knife?
Re: how old is this knife?
I can’t help you on this one Berry but I like the looks of it! Maybe if you started a new thread about “old the kitchen knives still in use” that might spark more interest
