Replacing handles of bread/butter knives

Post by Ozwelder »

We have a set of 6 x Grosvenor brand bread and butter knives that the missus picked up at the OP shop.

They are light and sharp but the handles appear to be shrinking and some of the the handles are bending.

The bends are like 3/8" over 4" of length.

I suspect this might be down to rust in the knife tangs.

Has anybody attempted a similar hand repair I am considering something like deer antler as a replacement handle. These are not too difficult to obtain from local hunters.

Does deer antler sound feasible?

Thanks for your advice in Advance

Ozwelder, can you show pictures?

Deer antler does sound feasible. So does Mahogany.
