This puppy is just shy of five pounds and nearly three feet long. I don't think any were ever made bigger than this and the only one I ever saw. It is available.

A few of my cleavers
#1 A Colonial folding hunter/cleaver.
#2 the Klever Klever multi-tool.Cleaver;fish scaler;cap lifter;center opening is for opening metal screw caps I think.
#3 an unmakred German carving set with colored etching and carved stag handles.
#4Another multi-tool cleaver;fish scaler;bone saw.
#5 A pair of Cattaraugus cleavers.
#6 a large butcher knife marked Englishtown Crafts that has a raised flat area on top of the blade for batoning through bones.

CPM-3v cleaver made by Phil Dobson and heat treated by Peter Heat Treat, RC 61; HHH knives chef knife in Bjorgmantwist Damasteel, damascus bolster with Rosewood burl handles, copper pins and liners

This is a "Big-un" I am working on restoring. It is marked "99" or "66". I am not sure what the number refers to.... ::hmm::

My Buddy bought a "Cheapo" (in Spanish "El cheapo") Chi-Com cleaver. I was over at his house for a cookout and I saw with my own eyes ::uc:: when he smacked down on the ribs to cut the rack... and bam!!! A big 'ol chip on the blade :shock: He hit it a few more times and could not believe it SABATIER Rowoco INOX Cleaver 6 inch Blade Made in France::facepalm:: . He threw the cleaver in the trash. I retrieved it ::sneaky:: ... I had to post the picture of next to my SABATIER Rowoco #51 Cleaver Made in France. ::sotb:: ......... Not that expensive, but a LOT BETTER QUALITY!!! ::groove::

I bought this with the intent of using it to cut up meat, but it is absurdly large and heavy. It might be useful for butchering a rhinoceros.

Looking online for something else I found this nice piece of ephemera. It a retailer's Foster Bros. label in green ink, securing wrapping paper around presumably a Foster Bros. cleaver.

Arrow trademarks must have been popular. Offhand I can think of John Russell Co. that sometimes used it, and Parker Brothers, the Meridan, CT gunmaker, as stamped on barrel ribs.

late entry: I see that Friedrich Dick, of Esslingen, Germany, used the arrow mark as well. There must be many more that do.
