What's in your kitchen?
Just wondering what everyone uses in the kitchen.....if you favor any particular brand.
At my house we use RADA CUTLERY. Good stuuf, made in the USA, and very affordable.

Re: What's in your kitchen?
Victorinox gets most of the use in my wife's kitchen and mostly paring-size knives with serrated blades. Cheap knives of very good quality.

Re: What's in your kitchen?
A mish mash of this and that. Since I cook very little these days, the majority of cutting duties in the kitchen fall to a little Victorinox serrated paring knife that Mike (313 Mike) gave me. Stainless steel, it sits in the dish drainer where it's handy. That little sucker is vicious sharp and fills most of my needs.
For the occasions where my needs require something larger, I have a paring and utility knife made by KAI Shun. The little Wasari cleaver now and then. The Joyce Chen Chinese cleaver around the holidays to cut up the Cushaw Squash. A Mundial slicer for roasts & turkey. A commercial, restaurant grade, bread knife.
Plus a dukes mixture of this and that, which over the years came here to live.

Re: What's in your kitchen?
I am so far away from being a chef;but I'm learning. My most used knives are a huge hand-made butcher knife I bought at a yard sale for 25 cents! For a paring knife I like the feel of my Warther parer that was another yard sale purchase for 50 cents(I think they retail for about 40 dollars now);pictured in this group of parers;it's the one with the engine turning on the blade.
My bread knife(I buy all my bread un-cut)is an old Clauss Cutlery aluminum handled bread knife;still another yard sale purchase.
My steak knives are an old set of Sheffield knives that the faux pearl handles disintegrated and I replaced them with some pieces of stag I bought at a yard sale for 50 cents an antler. The one with the prong sticking out the side is for my use and it makes a great thumb rest. The handles are actually quite comfortable to use even though they may not look it.
For holidays I break out my L.F.&C. stag and silver carving set.

I actually enrolled as a dealer last year......made a few sales to family, then realized people could order from RADA or Amazon for the same price and not have to pay shipping.
I tried to get folks to order thru my Amazon ads on my blog.....

Re: What's in your kitchen?
I counted 36 knives in our kitchen, not counting the set of 'Cutco' knives which my wife has put away for her grandchildren. Many of these knives are what I would call junker disposable knives, but not all of them. Surprisingly, one pattern which I use a lot is the fillet knife, represented at home by several of the pre-bankruptcy 'real' Schrade Shur-grip Old Timers. My main knives for some 25 years have been a set of 4 A.G. Russell Japanese bolster-less knives. I thought they were fine, until a bought a Misono santoku. This knife is the Bee's Knees. I can't say enough good things about it.

Re: What's in your kitchen?
We make our own bread and I have a Dexter/Russell serrated bread knife with a twelve inch blade that is a very good, boring, inexpensive tool. Along with the knife, I use an example of the following product, which is just super.

Re: What's in your kitchen?
My kitchen hardware is quite simple. I have a large hand made butcher knife that I bought at a yard sale for a quarter that I use for just about everything;an old Clauss aluminum handled bread knife(I buy farmer's French bread locally uncut);a set of English steak knives I re-handled in stag when the faux pearl scales dis-integrated; and an LF&C stag carver set for holidays. My wife has a small assortment of knives(mostly Wusthof)that she prefers using that are mostly new.
