Schrade or not 2 Schrade

Post by Whitneyrifle »

I picked this little one up today. I know Schrade made some knives for Dasco, but I have also read that Kabar did too. There are no maker marks on the tang, just the company marks. I have put one of my Union Cut Co.’s next to it for profile, it is a perfect match, just scaled down. So, is it Schrade or Kabar, or something else?

That's a Schrade Cut. Co 7783B. Here it is in the 1936 Catalog Supplement, which shows it with a substituted clip blade (that's what the 3/4 signifies):

As far as I know, Union Cut never used the "butter and molasses" celluloid but Schrade used a lot of it. I'd have to say knife was made by Schrade.
