Is this a pruning knife?

Post by AntiqueKnives »

Hello all,I picked up this knife a few days ago and just cleaned it up. I love it but have no idea if it's a pruning knife or some other. Would appreciate any more information. No markings I can see except a 'sta' on tang, (remnant of stainless steel ?)
Thanks

Noticed there's no tang stamp. Could it be an Asian copy of an old Schrade pattern? Just a guess? Hope not. J.O'.

That blade profile is not just a "Schrade pattern". It has been made by many different manufacturers in Germany & USA and likely other countries as well.

That's really useful information. I do agree it's not a Schrade. I also checked the 'Tina' brand budding/grafting knife, which looks similar and has the wood scales as well. But the blade profile differs a bit! ;)

Could be a made in Taiwan copy, they do a lot of that sort of copying of knives, and i am guessing that the STA on the tang is stainless steel with only the STA remaining. ::shrug::
