Can you help identify this knife? Ochs?

Post by JNJN »

Hello,

I was collecting knives in the early 90's. I liked the switches such as Benchmade. One off my friends told me to get an Ochs knife because the Seals were supposedly using them. I ended up buying what I believe was one at that time. I cannot remember exactly where I bought it from. I am wondering if anyone has an idea on exactly this knife may be? I am thinning out the collection. I really appreciate the help!

It looks like a Rob Dalton Baby Seal.

The closed shape of the Dalton Baby Seal and the Ochs (Ox Forge) Black Seals are nearly identical.
The shape and length of the blade looks more the the Dalton.
Are there any markings on it??

It sure looks to be sterile. I just went to Arizona Custom Knives and looked at pictures to compare. You might have to let a professional look at it to be sure.

I appreciate that. I thought I was buying an actual Ochs knife. Any recommendations on a possible expert in the Denver area? I am fairly new to Colorado. Again, I really appreciate the help!

Hi JNJN! I can't help to identify your knife, ::shrug:: but if you're patient you might find an "expert" right here on this forum. Your knife reminds me of the LUDT or Black Knife models, but that is strictly an observation on my part. BTW, ::welcome:: to AAPK! ::handshake:: 8)

Go to the website of Ochs, it is Ox Forge, email them and ask if they will authenticate the knife.
I did that with a custom auto from a different maker and got a nice reply.

I just discovered a big difference, The Ochs Navy Seal Black Knife is 9.5 inches overall.
The Dalton Baby Seal is 7.5 inches.
So, what length yours is should tell which it is.

Thanks You! I had reached out to Ox Forge a couple of times but did nor hear back. This knife is 7.5". You have been very helpful. Thanks a ton!

Sorry, my eyes are not very good anymore. I took a closer look at the knife and there is a logo. Perhaps that would help. Thanks a ton!

Sorry, my eyes are not very good anymore. I took a closer look at the knife and there is a logo. It looks like that is a DCC. Dalton Combat Cutlery. The Dalton Baby Seal was probably spot on! Thanks!

Definitely the Dalton mark. Mystery solved. Not what you thought you had but just as desirable a knife.

Agreed. Thanks again for taking the time to help me. Now I will just have to list it on the site.
