Patent No. 2,287,055 What Knife Co.
Re: Patent No. 2,287,055 What Knife Co.
I couldn't find anything cutlery with those numbers, so I decided to do some substituting, since how it was stamped made it hard to read. Looking closer and after randomly substituting numbers for the numbers I couldn't really make out the "9" and the "8", I believe the patent is actually 2297855. I kid you not, there are some WEIRD inventions out there. One of the items I mistakenly came across was a "cow bra".
The patent information seems to point towards Utica Cutlery Co. being the manufacturer.
US Patent 2297855 is for "bolstered handled cutlery"; issued October 9, 1940 and assigned to to Allen Albert Edward/Utica Cutlery Co.

Interestingly enough, Albert Baer cited it for what appears to be the Imperial BSA knife.
