Granddad and Me Case XX knife Set Info Request

Hey there you sharp people.

I know, Dad joke. :D

Anyone have info on this? Can’t find it anywhere. From the tang stamp it MIGHT be 1960’s? The USA has no dots in it though, so it’s not an exact match to that era and I can’t find it anywhere.

One of six hundred, serial #069.

Any history and/or estimated value would be most appreciated.

Thanks and God Bless!

Chris

The large (granddaddy) Barlow was made in 1980. The small one is 1979 (it has one dot that I can see).

The set was likely put out in 1980.

You have it backwards Ken.
The Grandaddy is 1979, the small one is 1980.

Sorry, I got them backwards when I typed that post. The large one has one dot, 1979. The smaller one has 10 dots and the lightning S, which is 1980.

You’re right David. I was waiting on hold with AT&T customer service when I typed that so I was distracted (not to mention P.O.’d). That’s my excuse and I’m sticking to it! ::facepalm::

Seriously everyone, thanks sincerely for your help. Expertise like this, and the willingness to freely share it, in any area of interest/profession/etc. is always edifying to me.

Case has made SO many knives it's unbelievable, and I am consistently impressed with items in this collection as I continue to process it.

Again, my thanks to all and God Bless!

Another quick question... This knife is the smallest one you all are telling me mine is, which is correct, of course. You rock stars you. :)

https://www.allaboutpocketknives.com/ca ... rlow-knife

What is my knife? Assuming ____________ Bone.

While I am at it, the big one is Delrin, right? Found this interesting, as I had to look it up... :)

Delrin
Polyoxymethylene, also known as acetal, polyacetal, and polyformaldehyde, is an engineering thermoplastic used in precision parts requiring high stiffness, low friction, and excellent dimensional stability. As with many other synthetic polymers, it is produced by different chemical firms with slightly different formulas and sold variously by such names as Delrin, Kocetal, Ultraform, Celcon, Ramtal, Duracon, Kepital, Polypenco, and Hostaform.

Anyway thanks, and Happy Wednesday!

Could be bone or Delrin, hard to say from the pictures. But you can usually easily determine under low magnification. Get a loupe and look for Haversian canals which are present in bone but not in a Delrin. Here’s how to do it viewtopic.php?f=98&t=62145
