All About Pocket Knives

I traded for this large Wostenholm knife yesterday. I have never seen this pattern before. It is over 4 3/4 closed, instead of the spey being on other end than the master clip blade, it has a sheepsfoot. It also reminds me more of a wharncliffe style knife than a serpentine frame. Also you can see steel pins inside the brass at each end! Thewood handles have held up very well, but goin by no blade loss this knife hasnt been used much. I like the no bolster look on a knife of this size. This one is very well built. Does anyone know anything about this knife (age, value,etc.) ?

I seem to recall that one was called the Texas Stockman or Texas Cattleman. I have kinda quit following IXLs so I don't know if there are many of them around like there used to be.

Thanks Ray! It sure is a big one, and great snap with all blades very tight! I like it alot, you know the age? I noticed the center pin is steel not brass as well.

I don't know the age but if you'll post photos of the front and rear of the master tang, I might be able to tell.

Ok here ya go... it almost looks like the sheepsfoot is tge master blade. The frame of the knife, which to me is like a wharncliffe whittler, even though its not a splitback but still looks like the sheepsfoot is the primary. Anyway let me know if you need better ones?

I believe that 'Oil the Joints' will date it from 1930 to 1971.

Here are two more. One of them is the shadow type like the OP, and then there is one with bolsters, done during the early 1980s when Schrade briefly owned IXL Wostenholm. I don't know the age of the OP knife, either. I think mine was maybe 1970s? I have some other ones, in stag.

There have been two of these shadow pattern “Texas Stock Knife” IXLs sold on eBay in the past two months. Both were new old stock, unused with original box. Both stamped “Oil the Joints”. One sold at auction (28 bids) for $47. The other was a BIN sale, seller was asking $99, accepted best offer.
