Ever See One of These?

Post by Paladin »

Guys,
I just ran across this kind of unusual knife out of a batch I bought a while back. I have never seen anything like it before. Any ideas as to what Parker might have called it? Hard to call it a whittler but I guess that is the closest name for it. It is a Parker Cut Co and made in Japan.

That is a strange one Ray! When I first glanced at it I thought it was one of those double lockbacks they put out for awhile.I Love oddball knives! I would concur that it is a whittler.

Agree. I’ve seen them on eBay before but don’t recall what they called them.

That is an interesting one, Ray! I would say more of a modified lockback whittler? I think there have to be three separate springs in there, each only about half the length of the frame, like a lockback whittler?

It is a strange one, at least to me. My Kentucky connection just called and he is pretty sure it is, or was, called a reverse whittler.
Kinda makes sense I guess.

Looking in some Parker price guides, Ray, not coming up with anything. What happens to be the closed length of that knife? If I come up with something I'll post it with a picture.

Thanks, John. It is 3½ inches long, right on the button. I appreciate the help.

Reverse whittler rings a bell. Maybe reverse lockback whittler. Here’s what came up in an Ebay search for sold listings of “reverse whittler”. https://www.ebay.com/itm/Vintage-RARE-P ... 7675.l2557

Same pattern, Parker Cutlery.
