HELP - vintage folding knife w tools

Hi all -
I purchased this knife at an estate sale but cannot find any info online as to its manufacturer or age.
I’ve attached photos.
It’s swiss army style but stamped made in Japan.
It is heavy and has brass accent hardware and an inlay metal circle with Swiss style cross.
Could it be a vintage knock off?
The blades are very sharp.
Any help is greatly appreciated.

I don't know who the manufacturer of your knife was but these were pretty common starting in the late 1970's forward.Some of them are of good quality while others are questionable. Yours appears to be of reasonable quality and only through use will it be proven out.

Hi there and welcome. I found this article that calls SAK's made in Japan, China, and Taiwan Swiss Army style knives and not actually SAK's. Though that difference may be subtle I suspect that is how they get around the legal aspects of making these kind of knives. If they called them genuine or authentic SAK's then there would be repercussions. Calling them that style of knife allows them to benefit from the notoriety of the brand but does not infringe upon the copyright or ownership of Victorinox? Only speculation of my part. A true or genuine Swiss Army knife can only be made in one of two places in Switzerland. The article says they do not try and fight the knock offs. I also think the 1980's were the heyday for knife making in Japan and suspect your knife was from that general time frame.
