Erwin, looks to me like you have a very beautiful and quality knife. Looks like a custom and well done. I like the lock release. Congrats. ::tu::

I would guess that the knife is a custom and that his or her initials are F.E.W. Looks like a good one to me.

I have seen other well made very attractive custom knives marked with 3 initials and sometimes a year or other number. When posted (here or BF) no one knew who the maker was.
I think there are quite a few skilled workmen who make knives for awhile, maybe as gifts for friends and maybe sell locally, and then move on to some other challenging endeavor. They don't post on line (and many made knives before the internet started) and did not advertise so there is no record of their knives.

I have a reference book from 1996 that has a listing for custom knife makers. The only listing matching the initials is Fred E. Weber of Forked River, NJ. Don't know if this will help you or not. Maybe you can get additional information or maybe it's a dead end?

Bigbore, Congratulations on a great catch. I saw that all of his knives on consignment were fixed blades. He appears to have made very few folders making yours extra special. ::tu::

The Arizona Custom Knives link shows a Fred E Weber fixed blade knife just added 2 days ago. i.e. Fred E Weber is still here. You can email him and ask him to confirm he made your knife and likely learn when he made it as well.
