Vetrinerianknife

Hi. I had an old knife on this forum, and got a lot of help. Its probebly an vetrinerian pocket knife.
2 more questions.
What means "early french" ? What year is that ruffly?
Where can I go from here, is there any where on the webb that is specialiced on old veterierian knifes?

Not an expert at all on this type of knife but I will try to ad what I can. I believe your knife could be as early as 18th century. As knife7knut said it could likely be French made based on the rosette type rivets. I think the fact that the handles have a pressed image points to the fact that this was a knife made for someone of affluence like a veterinarian. Decorative pressed horn handles were common on English made straight razors from the 19th century. The fact that knives like this are very uncommon lends itself to very limited information. Best Guess on dating your knife would be early to mid 1800's.
