Case XX ('40-'64) Box question

Post by Jtx »

Just trying to improve my knowledge of the older Case XX packaging. Can someone tell me if the old Case XX (1940 to 1964) knife boxes were always the orange color boxes? If they did change from orange to something else, what year was the change made? Thanks.

There is no definitive answer. However, I have seen the older blue boxes that were used in the Tested era with factory date stamps as late as the mid 1950's. For that and other reasons, I believe that the blue boxes were used in the early XX era, until maybe 1955, then Case switched to the orange/black "pumpkin" boxes that were used until mid to late 1985.
