TL 29 Knife

Post by just bob »

Picked this up at a flea market and it has an Ulster blade in it that I think is wrong. As far as I can tell the shield has US - 1895 on it. Anyone seen another TL 29 with this shield? What does that mean? What brand of knife is it? Thanks

I can't tell from the pic, does it appear to have had a bail? The 1895 number must be a part number as I can't imagine an electrician's knife from the 19th century. The screw-driver blade is of the more modern style with the single cut on the blade. Silvey's book on military folding knives does show pics of three "TL-29's" with similar markings on the shield. One is stamped U.S.18549, one is stamped U.S.18139 and one is stamped U.S.11929. He refers to them as "serial numbers".

Judging by the shield and pins it's most likely not a Schrade. That Utica is much closer to the OP knife, I think you may have hit it on the head, TJM! ::tu::

Schrade for contrast.

Thank you for posting this information. That certainly answers the question.
