Can someone tell me, or point me to a thread or a website that outlines the timeline of when KA-BAR Ka-Bar Kabar changed tang stamps from what to what? I've been looking at the history and have seen a pretty good record of changes of ownership, locations, etc., but no definitive dates re: stamp changes. I've been chasing this around and can't seem to find it.

While searching for this same information, I ran onto this three year old post with no replies. Does anyone have any information on KA-BAR Ka-Bar Kabar tang stamps. Or is searching for this information just another way of beating my head against the wall.

KA-Bar: 1919-1950

Ka-Bar: 1923-1960

Kabar: 1951-present

Ka-bar knife company has used over 200 different stampings over the years, trying to date them exactly is next to impossible. So take the dates given above with a grain of salt. Atleast it is a start ::nod::

Thanks. It's more than I had.

Edit to add:

Before your reply M.B., I had sent a request for information to Ka-Bar. I asked about KA-Bar, Ka-Bar and KABAR. This is the reply I received.

KA-BAR has reportedly used more than 200 tang stampings throughout the
history of the company. Variants of all of these stampings have been
used throughout the history of the company with minimal records of the
dates of use, particularly in the early part of the twentieth century.
We use serial numbers on the blade to help date knives. These three
tang stampings had been used interchangeably at different points in the
company's history. Today, KA-BAR and Union Cutlery are the only tang
stamps in use. I am sorry I could not be of more assistance.
