225OT blade in a 125OT.... it does fit!

Post by Meridian_Mike »

Here is a recent project I just finished. I had this 125OT with a TERRIBLE blade. It has a great spring that gave a beautiful walk and talk.
I had a 225OT blade and at first glance.... they look the same.

After I got it apart I saw the difference in the blades...... the 125OT blade has a notch for the liner lock to slip into.
(edit)... so I filed the 225OT blade to match the 125OT blade.

SO.... after a good clean up and reassembly, I once again have a nice Old Timer liner lock knife...(even if the pattern number on the blade is wrong....LOL)

I hope this information is helpful.
Thanks for looking everyone.

I like it!
I am lazier than you, I guess. My thought was to remove the liner lock. I have done that on another knife, just because I am not a huge fan of liner locks.
You took the extra effort, and it really shows.
Good job!

Nice save on that one! Blade tang stamp number is not important, you put an old survivor back into action!

That looks fantastic. I often see pocket knife design as a drive to maximise blade vs handle. You have outstripped expectations in that build. I'm glad yo see it.
I wish I had a few 1250 frames lying around.

Does it close up well? Did you have to rework the clip?

Yes on both accounts.

After I filed the liner lock notch into the 225OT blade, it became EXACTLY like the 125OT blade.

SO.... it folds, walks, talks and performs just like it did when it came from the Schrade factory.

That is a spectacular find. They seem to be two entirely different-sized blades. Maybe that's what makes the 1250t seem so generously-endowed. I'm very impressed by your work.

Excellent work and great observation! I saw a YouTube vid recently of some guy basically doing the same thing with a Benchmade, which was waaaaaaaaaay easier. Sweet knife! ::tu::
